The Govt. of India has sanctioned a new mission namely National Mission on Edible Oils Oilseeds (NMEO) as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme(CSS) under Krishionnati Yojana(KY) of the DA & FW from 2024-25 to 2030-31.The mission will support boosting production of major oilseed crops along with secondary oilseeds and Tree borne oilseeds.

Key Activities
- Conducting block demonstration
- Additional seed hubs & seed storage units
- Preparing 5 year seed rolling plan and advance tie ups with seed producing agencies
- Support to establish postharvest infrastructure
- Targeted interventions in project mode
- Monitoring mission activities through digital technologies
- Implementation of a robust information, education & communication.
Strategy
- Seed distribution will be conducted in Value chain Clusters by selected Value Chain Partners in 200 ha patch size using < 5 years variety involving at least 200 farmers
- 450 numbers of Farmers’ training & 40 numbers of Farmer Field School will provide vast scope for dissemination of knowledge and skill up gradation of oilseed farmers .
- Block level demonstrations through department for different oilseeds has increased from 25,000 ha to 75,000 ha thus focusing on self sufficiency of state in edible oils.
- Honey bee keeping in sunflower and mustard have been added to support oilseed farmers and to provide additional income to them. Identified farmers will be given trainings through OUAT to improve their knowledge , skill and boost sustainability
- For healthy storage of seeds, construction of seed storage unit at OUAT is proposed for storing oilseeds and other seeds to be used in coming seasons.
- For value addition , state has planned for mini oil extraction unit through Value Chain Partners for projects with a maximum subsidy limited to Rs 9.99 lakhs .
- To increase productivity and maintain soil health status intercropping of groundnut and pigeon pea is introduced in north central plateau of state.
- New initiatives like Avocado oil extraction and coconut oil extraction through CDB has been programmed.
- State has planned to involve NSC in groundnut seed production programme and supply 5000 quintals of state notified/certified seeds.
